        Verdict

The market should prove informative given the number of interesting newcomers but PALAWAN sets quite a demanding standard for them to aspire to. Richard Hannon's charge improved significantly from a satisfactory debut to post a fourth place in the Chesham Stakes at the Royal meeting. He was noted staying on to good effect that day and should appreciate the drop in grade. Stable companion Skeaping delivered a mid-division finish here on debut and will improve, likewise Sterling Work. The latter was noted sticking on nicely behind Hornsby at Newmarket, is in good hands and could well emerge as the main danger to the selection.
