In depth

Verdict

A fascinating maiden. Albareq cost $1.2m and showed good promise on his debut behind Norse Dancer at Salisbury and looks the one to beat. David Loder's Danzig colt, Etesaal, cost $1m and is sure to attract interest. His dam, the Law Society mare Electric Society, is related to Salsabil and Marju. Loder's other runner, Ibtecar, is out of the top-class filly, Balanchine, who won the Oaks and the Irish Derby. Ed Dunlop's Go For Success is entitled to improve on his C/D debut run, and is another well-bred runner, his dam being closely related to Arazi and Noverre. King Solar might find this a little tougher than his debut run over a furlong shorter. With runners also from the Gosden, Dunlop and Charlton stables, an interesting race lies in store, but Albareq can confirm the good impression he left on his debut.
