In depth

Verdict

Bali Star has obviously benefited from the move to Ron Hodges and opened her winning account at Windsor last week. It was her 20th start and there may be some improvement to come and she has been placed on the sand. Sergeant Slipper has won three times on fibresand and was runner-up here in June. He was unlucky when denied a clear run and fourth at Beverley recently. Mutasawwar is on a better mark on sand than on turf and comes from a stable which excels with sprinters, while Henry Tun and Sotonian are both CD winners but have been out of sorts of late.Valuable Gift and River Days represent a stable in great form. The former has yet to win a race but was second here in may as well as on turf at Goodwood and should open his account soon.
