Verdict

Primary has already shown us what he can do and David Loder's juvenile can follow up against a host of newcomers including Papal Bull, Rajaall and Capricorn Run. The latter is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor who sent out Storm Silk to land the spoils 12 months ago, and Capricorn Run could be anything. With a purchase price of $950,000, he will be expected to open his account in good company soon, but we much prefer the claims of Primary who displayed a willing attitude when making all the running on his Leicester debut recently. He knuckled down to work when Shane Kelly asked him to quicken from the front and was impressive despite the slower conditions. His action showed that he will be even better on this faster ground and it will take a good one to stop him from following up. He has entries in the Royal Lodge, Dewhurst, Racing Post Trophy and next year's Vodafone Derby and is one to follow. Papal Bull also hold a Derby entry and it will be interesting to see if he has inherited any of his sire Montjeu's kinks on his debut. He is worth noting though along with Rajaall, a half-brother to plenty of winners. The only other one here to have seen the racecourse is Alhaiham who should improve on his course and distance debut, but really this should be plain sailing for the highly-rated Primary.
