Verdict

An intriguing Showcase Handicap with Free Trip suggested over Johnny Parkes, Go Between, Danzig River, Lake Garda, Mister Saif, Hoh Bleu Dee and Traytonic. Running through the field. Traytonic has plenty of speed and a Listed-race fourth place to his name. He shoulders top weight but is still capable of going well. The same is true of Hoh Bleu Dee. Disappointing over seven furlongs at York, he drops back to six here and is entitled to respect. Mister Saif is progressing and, as with a number of these, it is difficult to gauge at what stage of development these two-year-olds are at in relation to one another. It's the ongoing nursery conundrum. Lake Garda has the look of an improver and got off the mark last time and Danzig River's win over Truly Wonderful gives him comparable form with Free Trip. The selection has won two of his three starts and, trained by John Gosden, this well-bred colt has a progressive look about him. The same can be said of Linda Ramsden's Johnny Parkes who is probably better than his last run, when he made hard work of winning a run-of-the-mill event. Imperium and Scorching are both blinkered for the first time, which adds further to an intriguing event that we think will go to Free Trip.
