      Verdict

Idole First has made a bright start to his British career and looks all set to follow up at the expense of Kaikovra, in what has the makings of a two-horse race. Formerly trained in France, where he was a claiming winner in soft ground at Deauville last August, the son of Flemensfirth showed he can handle faster conditions when beating more experienced opposition on his hurdles debut at Stratford in July. Given a rest since, he reappears shouldering a penalty, but has been found an easy opportunity to score again. His only serious rival appears to be Kaikovra, a consistent sort who has yet to add to his bumper success of three years ago. He has made the frame on numerous occasions though, and looks a banker for the frame again. Oliver Sherwood is determined to put himself back on the map this season and has booked Tony McCoy for Rodolfo. A half-brother to a Group 2 winner on the Flat, he makes his debut over timber and would not have to be anything special to figure. However, he like the rest, should be left trailing in the wake of Idole First who should make it two out of two.
