    Verdict

OLD GUARD, a half-brother to the classy Thistle Bird, won a maiden on the Polytrack in July and may have too much speed for Karezak if handles underfoot conditions - his yard has won this twice in the last five years. Alan King's charge won on his hurdling debut at Chepstow, despite making mistakes, but penalties can be tough to overcome at this time of year. Mick Jazz was placed in France for previous connections but has his first run today for Harry Fry. Bassarabad has a NH pedigree but makes his racecourse debut.
