CLEAR SPRING beat Golden Steps a short-head in this last year with Englishman back in fourth. He finished behind the latter at Newmarket at the start of the month but was entitled to need the run and John Spearing's sprinter should make his presence felt again today. Englishman is on a roll, however, and unlikely to go down without a fight, though no certainty to confirm recent running with the progressive Dougan on revised terms. Mullionheir did well last season and so did Francisco, who still has some scope. Stepping up from 5f may not suit Goodwood second Harry Hurricane, however, and Charles Molson isn't easy to catch right.
