In depth

Verdict

McEldowney, Liberty Seeker and Duroob are the three to consider here, and McEldowney is taken to confirm his liking for this tight track. Liberty Seeker, a winner first time out at Catterick, was a close third over two miles last time, staying on at the finish over two miles. He is a thorough stayer who may prefer better ground, and this step back in trip is not sure to suit. Duroob also won first time out this season, at Nottingham, but also seems to prefer a slower surface. He ran well at York behind Sphinx, but may find the ground too quick. McEldowney has won twice at Catterick recently, and three all told this season. he handles the ground well and can be excused his latest defeat over the course and distance as it came the day after his more recent Catterick success. A seven pound rise in the weights may not stop this progressive type and McEldowney can score again.
