Verdict

The fitting of cheek pieces for the first time on Ballingaddy may help Alan King's gelding but they will need to improve him significantly if he is to get the better of BALAKAR, who gets the vote with the main rival rated as Heir To Be. The last mentioned won well enough at Hereford recently but a 7lb higher mark makes this tougher and he may have to settle for minor honours. Enhancer has been well held in his last two starts but he has been given a chance by the handicapper, while The Alner's More The Merrier is less exposed than most of these but needs to improve on all known form to trouble the judge. Carl Llewellyn's Ammunition reverts to hurdles after an unsuccessful spell chasing and looks best watched as does the Philip Hobbs-trained Perfect Line, who has been well held in all four starts over hurdles. The vote then goes to James Lambe's Balakar, who has been running creditably in defeat of late, latterly when chasing home Cote D'Argent at Ayr, and a reproduction of his recent form may well suffice in this company.
