    Verdict

The 2007 Arkle winner My Way de Solzen has disappointed since his Cheltenham success and was pulled up on his only start this term at Huntingdon in December so Alan King's gelding is hard to back with any confidence despite racing off a fair mark and a safer option looks to be the Paul Nicholls-trained SUPER FORMEN, who is preferred to another Ditcheat runner Hoo La Baloo. The last mentioned has slipped to a winning mark after some below par efforts and he has to be respected under Sam Thomas who rides as he would struggle to do the weight on his stable companion. Richard Lee's Almaydan is not as good as he once was but is still capable of taking a hand in a race of this nature but he seems a shade high in the weights. Miss Mitch was good value for her win at Ascot last time but a 13lb rise for that success makes this more difficult for the Alner's mare. Gary Moore's Heathcote has been running well of late but may prefer a softer surface and preference is for Super Formen. Admittedly he was fortunate to justify short odds when successful at Taunton last month but that was only his second start over fences since joining Paul Nicholls and, with more to come, he looks worth siding with.
