In depth

Verdict

Pesquera gets the nod over Heidi's Dash, Latin Express and Befitting, with Dragon Slayer also worth a mention. Pesquera's two outings on Turf were both over six furlongs, but she appears to have bags of speed, and the decision to drop her back to the minimum for her Polytrack debut may reap dividends. She looks a ready-made winner anyway on her third to Hanseatic League at Windsor, and if leaving stall one handy, can make all. Heidi's Dash shaped very well when fourth to Jewel In The Sand no less at Sandown in May and, if not for her absence since then, she would be more fancied. She will be placed to good effect though, and could turn out to be a lot better than the average all-weather maiden. Latin Express was well backed here midweek but had the misfortune to run into Grand Show, Walter Swinburn's first winner. Highly rated at home, he is another to keep on the right side of. Befitting comes from a stable that excels with its juveniles, while Dragon Slayer has to improve markedly in this company. A good maiden can go to Pesquera who can make the most of her speed.
