In depth

Verdict

Those with issued ratings appear to hold the key here and it appears a match between Meydan Dubai and Elizabeth Swann and we side with the later. Richard Hannons' charge has three quick runs in succession, all over six furlongs, towards the back end of last years turf season. A second placing in a Newmarket fillies maiden reads particularly well, the third having reappeared and won a listed race since. The market should prove a good guide but the Hannon yard are renowned for having their charges primed first time out and Elizabeth Swann can land this ordinary auction maiden. Meydan Dubai, sixth in the Chesham at Royal Ascot, failed to step up from that effort and was beaten at short odds in two maidens since. The step up to seven should suit but that sixth in the Chesham should not be taken literally and he also has a wide draw to overcome. Of the remainder Night Premiere is the stable companion of the selection and will qualify for a handicap mark after this outing so is probably best watched while Kirkie failed to see out the trip on his debut but the step back suited last time out. It appears a match on paper and we will side with Elizabeth Swann.

Formwatch

Arniecoco Foaled 14 February. Dam won over 1m at three years. Possibly best watched on his racecourse debut unless attracting significant market support.

Coole Dodger (IRE) Placed twice in seven starts. Finished 7l behind Wee Buns when fourth of 5 at 5-1 on his latest outing in a claimer here over 6f earlier this month. Has to enter the reckoning on the pick of his form.

Sidestreet Half-brother to Bentley, won over 5f twice and 6f at three years. Dam won over 7f at two years. He makes his first public appearance this afternoon and unless attracting significant market support, is probably best watched.

Elizabeth Swann Foaled 24 March. Placed in all three starts. Beaten 1/2l by Shabiba when second of 15 at 7-2 on her latest outing at Newmarket (Rowley) over 6f (good) earlier this month. Having her first run on an all-weather surface today. She has sound form claims.

Erlydors (IRE) Foaled 8 March. Half-sister to Moon Mischief, won over 1m at three years. She is seeing the racecourse for the first time tonight and the betting market could be the best guide to her chances.

Estella Mai Dam won over 1m 4f 14 times at three to 10 years old. This filly is bred to get further in time and could find things happening a bit quickly on her racecourse debut today.

Night Premiere (IRE) Foaled 1 April. Dam unraced half-sister to Land Of Dreams, a high-class sprinter. Stable's juveniles must always be respected and she is no exception. One to note on debut.

Shabnaam Unplaced in all six starts. Finished 7l behind dead-heaters Wynberg and Seductive Witch when fourth of 5 at 14-1 on her latest outing at Lingfield over 6f earlier this month. Cannot be ruled out in this field.

Veni Bidi Vici .

Irish Music (IRE) Finished 4 1/2l behind My Mate Pete when sixth of 11 at 25-1 on his racecourse debut here over 6f in December. He is entitled to have improved for that and a big run could be on the cards here.

Kirkie (USA) Beaten a neck by Helping Hand when second of 8 at 12-1 on his latest outing here over 6f in January, his first placing in two starts. Likely to appreciate the return to this trip and worthy of a place on any short-list.

Meydan Dubai (IRE) Foaled 17 April. Third of 12 behind Lesson In Humility beaten 1/2l at 8-15fav on his latest outing at Carlisle over 5f (good to firm) last month, his second place in three starts. Boasts the best level of form on offer and could be hard to beat.
