An open sort of contest where Haydn might just have been given enough chance by the handicapper, with Petardias Magic, Motu and Four Amigos others to consider. The selection showed up well on his seasonal reappearance at Southwell in February finishing just a length down in fifth place behind Massey. A 5lb drop here gives him every chance now that he has been freshened up with another break and with proof that he handles cut in his formlines he is our choice. Kieren Fallon rides Petardias Magic, and he too looks to have been given a chance, with a 7lb drop since soundly beaten at Lingfield in February. The drop back to 6f should suit and he can give the selection most to do. Another of interest after a break for the winter is Motu. He has also been dropped a couple of pounds since finishing down a big field at Newbury in October and is better judged on his maiden win at Ripon in August, when he beat the useful Distant Times. Even so, he has to improve to trouble the other pair here. Four Amigos also makes his seasonal debut and is interesting if he successfully steps up from five furlongs, but with that to prove, we are happy to stick with Haydn.
