In depth

Verdict

Martin Pipe needs all the ammunition he can muster at the moment and we will take Friendly Fellow to see off Polar Scout and Motcombe. Tony McCoy takes the mount aboard Friendly Fellow and while the gelding's efforts have been little to write home about - there was clearly a problem when he was last seen out at Taunton and connections have given him plenty of time to get over it. Polar Scout hails from an in-form yard and has finished close up in a couple of handicap chases this term. He appears to handle any surface and should stay this trip so all indications are bright for Noel Fehily's mount. Motcombe could be the fly in the ointment. He has proved that he stays the trip and while there is the suggestion that he may need to drop a few pounds in the handicap, this is not the strongest of contests. She's Our Native has been a disappointment following a success in a National Hunt Flat race while this represents the easiest engagement that the highly-tried I Hear Thunder has taken on in his short career. A mixed bag on view and Friendly Fellow rates a speculative selection.
