Some top yards are represented in this novice chase where a confident vote is given to Janus du Cochet, with Rosslea and Chicago Bulls both capable of putting up strong resistance. Martin Pipe's seven-year-old was a top class hurdler and, after being given a test of stamina at Exeter last week, gave notice that he could also develop into a decent chaser. Although he beat a very exposed runner in Bak To Bill, he did it in emphatic style and can land this before moving onto greater things. Rosslea could pose the most potent threat to the selection having taken on the likes of Therealbandit and Pizarro on his last two outings. Both of those conquerors will be heading for the Cheltenham Festival so Henrietta Knight's entry has to be respected. Of the rest, Chicago Bulls appears to be the only contestant with a chance, he finished some eight lengths behind Rosslea when they met at Cheltenham but he did make plenty of mistakes, if his jumping has improved he could well be in contention. However in what could turn out to be a high class race, Janus du Cochet is given the nod.
