Verdict

The Irish raiders Sir Quigley and Fair Caterina both have to be respected in this moderate contest but neither makes much appeal at the weights and it is hard to get away from Floodlight Fantasy, who gets the vote. The selection has been showing a consistent level of form on the flat of late and stepped up on previous hurdles form when running out the decent winner of a Fakenham handicap last week. A reproduction of that form should see Dr Newland's gelding defy his penalty. Sticky End could be of interest back over hurdles today but is probably better over further and remains a maiden. Rexmehead ran better in a seller here last time but has harshly been raised 4lb for that effort, while Baby Sister has been running consistently well but needs some help from the handicapper. This should not take much winning and Floodlight Fantasy gets the vote to land the opener.
