The progressive VIVANT can defy a 7lb penalty with Tommie O’Brien’s allowance in his favour. He returned a wide-margin winner at Fontwell last week and makes more appeal than the returning Jump For Dough. The latter missed out on a treble when last in action back in February though he drops back down in class today while Judge Earle has won a maiden hurdle for Richard Fahey and was placed in a claimer at Worcester recently. A bad blunder cost Desert Island Dusk here last time but he’s not out of this on an earlier course and distance success.

Jump For Dough (IRE) 5-1 (10-1) Chased leaders, lost place after 9th, ridden and headway under pressure after 3 out, stayed on from last, not reach leaders, 5th of 11, 4 1/4l behind Calett Mad (11-8) at Musselburgh 3m 2f hcp (2) sft in Feb.
Judge Earle (IRE) 10-1 (11-12) Tracked leader to after 4th, close up in 3rd, driven and one pace after 3 out, ridden and stayed on to take 3rd flat, no chance with clear pair, 3rd of 5, 7 1/4l behind Mizen Master (11-7) at Worcester 2m 4f (5) gd in Aug.
Sigurd (GER) 20-1 (11-12) Tracked leader until 7th, not fluent 3 out, soon struggling, 5th and no impression when fell last, at Cartmel 2m 5f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
