In depth

Verdict

Many of these were entered in last week’s abandoned Ayr Gold Cup and will be looking for compensation in this quickly-arranged £90,000 sprint. SAINTED wasn’t sent to Scotland but is fancied to cash in on her favourite surface today. She’s gone up 8lb since landing the odds here last month but her ability to stay beyond 6f is likely to be an asset in what is sure to be a strongly-run affair and Goodwood winner Johnny Barnes and Leopardstown third Withernsea are also worth considering on that score. Shanghai Glory ran well in both the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood and the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon last month while the former Group 2 winner Donjuan Triumphant picked up the winning thread again in a conditions race here last time. Ice Age has made giant strides since beaten by Stake Acclaim at Windsor in June but this is probably a little too competitive for recent winners Rene Mathis and Kickboxer.
