In depth

Verdict

Heavy ground suits KING’S PAVILION, who followed up a win at Carlisle earlier this month with a staying-on second behind the well-backed Dan Troop at Chester. Though up a further 3lb, the long straight here will play to his strengths and he should prove hard to beat. Conditions won’t be a problem for Calder Prince and, though beaten six times off this mark since winning over track and trip in July, he has place claims again. Lord Of The Rock is useful when everything falls into place, as it did last time at York, but Muntadab has been racing over shorter trips this year. The three-year-olds Century Dream and Original Choice handle give in the ground so can’t be ignored.
