In depth

Verdict

Cotton Eyed Joe gets the vote in this staying handicap with Fourth Dimension and Squirtle rating the main dangers. The selection from the in-form Alan Swinbank yard won well last time out when beating Treason Trail. He escapes a penalty for that win and with the excellent PJ McDonald taking off a further three pounds he will be hard to beat. Fourth Dimension rates the main danger as he also won well last time out when defeating Mabel. However consistency is not his strong point and at likely odds he looks worth taking on. Squirtle was a fair third behind Zonic Boom last time and is another with place claims but his best efforts have come when giving weight away to inferior rivals and he looks opposable on that basis. Of the remainder Hawridge King may need the run after a 329 day absence while it would be no surprise to see Fenners bounce back to form on this faster surface but Cotton Eyed Joe looks ahead of the handicapper and he gets our vote.
