Verdict

Wolgan Valley is bound to be popular for backers here and Godolphin's colt has to be respected following a pleasing debut effort at Newmarket last month but he is unlikely to represent much in the way of value and preference is for Captain Gerrard, with Menadha rated the best of the remainder. The selection stepped up on promising debut effort at York when collared late on in a decent five furlong contest at Beverley last time and, with further improvement anticipated, he looks worth a wager here. Mark Brisbourne's Secret Asset looks to be going the right way but this looks tougher for him, while a market move for Rio Sabotini would be of interest. Cayman Fox has shown signs of ability and has place claims although a bigger threat may come from Mick Channon's Menadha who showed promise on his Salisbury debut. Captain Gerrard has done little wrong in both starts so far though and he looks worth a punt to gain a deserved first success.
