In depth

Verdict

Billich has a nice racing weight but is probably better on the all-weather, while Peter Chapple-Hyam's River Alhaarth would probably prefer a softer surface and preference is for Mr Ed. The selection has not raced on the flat since last year's Cesarewitch but has slipped to a decent mark now and Peter Bowen's gelding has been running well over fences of late so clearly still retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game and he gets the vote to resume winning ways on the level. Colloquial would have claims if improving for his first run of the campaign but is probably a shade high in the weights, while Escayola similarly looks plenty high enough in the handicap now. The Nawab is probably better than his last two runs would suggest but Mr Ed has solid claims back on the level and is taken to return to winning ways.
