Granato battled on well to open his account at the third time of asking at Pontefract last autumn and was then put away over the winter. Alec Stewart's colt only reappeared last month, finishing down the field at Newmarket after being hampered at the start. He is sure to come on for that run, and providing he can handle the ground this time, can defy topweight. Bryan Smart has his team in good shape so we can expect a good run from Vademecum, a winner at Newcastle last year. He made a lot of the running at Beverley on his return three weeks ago, and may be suited by this drop back in trip. A Little Bit Yarie was a winner over five furlongs here last May and although confined to the minimum so far, shapes as though he will stay further. Fiore di Bosco showed fair form on one or two occasions last term, but may just need the outing, and with that in mind, Granato, who will be that bit sharper, gets the vote.
