Verdict

With some of the bigger yards represented here this could prove to be quite a hot contest. With the stalls on the stands' side, a low draw would have been beneficial in a large field, but with only nine runners it shouldn't have too much bias. From the yard that took this event last year with the useful Pearl Dance, Doctrine, from the same family as the high-class Sacrement, is an early foal, who should be more forward than most. She is from a yard that has had one winner from the three juveniles to have run from Manton this year and is the selection to see off some potentially decent types. Harriet's Touch is from a stable that has done well with its two-year-olds this term, with ten winners from 38 runners. However, they do tend to improve from their initial outing, while Hot Lips Page, although not catching the eye on breeding, is respected as the Hannon yard has a 22% strike rate with its juveniles. Stablemate Swaheli runs here in preference to an engagement at Newmarket later in the week and with Richard Hughes on board is one to keep an eye on. My Personal Space, a half-sister to four winners including Far Lane and Riverina, is the first two year-old runner of the season for Gerard Butler and is certainly one to keep an eye on. Main danger may come from Pearl Grey, who is out of a mare that won four races, three of them over this trip, and is closely related to the useful juvenile winner Silver Seeker. Paul Cole has yet to get his two-year-olds going and his Silver Calling, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner in the U.S.A. Mr Bluebird is one to watch for the future.
