    Verdict

Gyroscope has the raw power to come good here and is selected in preference to Gold Hush, Baltic Bell and Home Sweet Home. The last named made a belated start to the season in June - running a couple of fair races in defeat. Those outings will have brought her fitness along nicely and she may be a different proposition now. Baltic belle is consistent and, as she handles an undulating surface, she is one to bear in mind at a fair price. Luke Morris takes 5lb off her back with his claim and the daughter of Redback should not be underestimated. Gold Hush is chasing a hat trick and, as she has a proven heart for a battle, she can make the selection pull out all the stops. However, as Ryan Moore has opted to ride her stablemate, it is safe to assume that Gyroscope is the leading hope from the Sir Michael Stoute yard. The daughter of Spinning World has made good progress this term and, as a half-sister to the classy Arakan, the improving Gyroscope would be carrying on a family tradition of winning at Goodwood if successful this afternoon.
