Southway Star and Monash Lad are the only two previous winners in this ordinary contest. The former has to go on the short-list despite struggling off higher marks since scoring at Newton Abbot in August, but the latter has completely lost his way and races from 3lb out of the handicap here. BAGSY'S BRIDGE was heavily backed after a long break at Southwell but was too keen for his own good and didn't last home. If he settles better here, Fergal O'Brien's charge should recoup losses. The others have little to recommend them, though Titch Strider was third in a novice event here in August.
