In depth

Verdict

Reseda makes her much awaited chase debut and can oblige at the expense of Caballe, Easibrook Jane and Cool Carroll. Trainer Ian Williams will be keen to win this contest, the Jockeys Supporting Chris Kinane Trust Novices' Chase, and in Reseda he has just the right ammunition. Successful twice over hurdles, the German-bred mare has not been seen the second of those two victories, at Ludlow in May. That latest win was gained despite the ground being fast, and under much more suitable conditions she will be hard to beat. By all accounts she has schooled brilliantly, and with Tony McCoy in the saddle once again, she should make a winning start over fences. Her main rival looks to be Caballe who does at least go on soft ground, but she was rated around 20lb below the selection over hurdles and will surely struggle to match her. Easibrook Jane is another that will like the ground, but she has not really taken to fences in two outings over the bigger obstacles to date, while Cool Carroll will do well just to get round. Reseda is head and shoulders above her rivals and is a confident selection.
