Verdict

The vote here goes to Johann de Vonnas ahead of Polar Scout and Pounsley Mill. The selection has been apportioned a rating of 106 for his handicap debut after winning over course and distance last time, which seems very fair and, accordingly, we take him to follow up. L'Orphelin has won three on the bounce, including at this track, so comes here in good heart, but he has a lot of weight to carry. Polar Scout came good over fences at Folkestone last time and his mark also seems fair, so afford him plenty of respect, while Novi Sad is well weighted on his best hurdling form but has a bit to prove over fences. Pounsley Mill is back to a winning mark over fences and has won here so he can be given a squeak, but Walcot Lad, who has won twice here, probably has a few pounds to find to score.
