In depth

Verdict

The form of Kadam's latest start was given a solid boost on Wednesday and, as such, he is selected in preference to Red Society, Mounts Bay and Mystical Star in the opener at Exeter. The Paul Nicholls-trained selection is still open to plenty of improvement and arrives here with his stable in buoyant mood ahead of the weekend's bigger prizes. This race will obviously be quite low on the list of priorities considering some of the prize-money that is on offer elsewhere, but Nicholls is renowned for his attention to detail and it is safe to assume that Kadam will be produced at the track at the top of his game. Christian Williams has a good record when riding for the yard and a bold bid is anticipated. Red Society is holding his form well at present and poses the biggest threat. He is still feasibly well treated in comparison to his chase rating and should make a fist of it as the contest develops. Nevertheless, like Mounts Bay and Mystical Star, he is vulnerable to a less exposed type, which this time we fancy will be Kadam, who can make his third visit to a Exeter a lucky one for all concerned with him today.
