Verdict

This looks to be a good opportunity for Golden Island to get of the mark, with Rondelet and Turner the others who make some appeal. Golden Island has a fair bit in hand on official ratings and almost broke her duck when beaten a head by Buckeye Wonder at Sandown earlier in the month. That proved that she gets this trip well and there looks to be a fair bit more to come from her. Being by Selkirk she should not be unduly inconvenienced by any rain ad although she has the worst of the draw she looks to have the class to overcome that in this contest. Rondelet steps up in trip to 10 furlongs for the first time and looks to have a bit to find with the selection. Nevertheless he has handled cut before and has George Duffield, who rides this track well, in the plate, so that looks good enough for a place. Of the remainder Turner would need to improve to trouble the other pair, but he at least has some respectable course and distance form to his name from his latest outing and as he is drawn between Golden Island and Rondelet, that should help him go the pace and these three should be able to dominate and fill the frame. For the winner though we return to Golden Island.
