Verdict

In receipt of weight all round, Dead-Eyed Dick can beat Bush Park, Something Dandy and Hiers de Brouage. Dead-Eyed Dick has taken time to get the hang of things over fences, but came good at Exeter just five days ago. His trainer revealed afterwards that his gelding had survived a potentially life threatening fall at Cheltenham last season, so he has done well even to get back on the track, let alone win. Granted this is a bit of a jump in grade, but he lines fit and in form, so should go close. Bush Park always seems to find one too good but has the assistance of the very much in-form Andrew Thornton, and it surely will not be too long before he goes one better. Something Dandy was always struggling to go the pace at Towcester last time and really needs three miles, while Waterlaw has now joined Martin Pipe but has a long absence to overcome. Hiers de Brouage was highly tried on his return at Newbury but came out of it well, and can make the frame at the very least. However, we will stick with Dead-Eyed Dick to follow up.
