Verdict

Woodlands Genpower has an absence to overcome, but can make a bold bid to win again, with Meggies Gamble, Stanway and Jaoka du Gord ones to keep an eye on. Woodlands Genpower caused something of a shock when beating one of today's rivals, Stanway at Newton Abbot in June. His stable are not renowned for bumper winners, but there was a lot to like about his performance, and despite the penalty giving Stanway a chance of turning the tables, we will stick with Woodlands Genpower. Meggies Gamble went well for a long way at Fontwell and is sure to have been well galloped by her trainer who does well in these events. So does Paul Webber, who runs both Jaoka du Gord and Touch The Tambour. The former may be best with Andrew Thornton in the plate. With the Nigel Twiston-Davies team in fine form, it would be folly to leave out Stage Friendly who could be anything, but with a win to his credit already, Woodlands Genpower should go close.
