In depth

Verdict

Wyatt Earp is taken to get losses back, with Trojan Flight, Mr Malarkey, Mandarin Spirit and Pax just a few with claims as well. The last-named won this race last year in fact when it was run at York, and for obvious reasons Dandy Nichols would like to win it again. Pax may prove best of his three runners here, but our preference is for Wyatt Earp who was so unlucky at Haydock last time. Richard Fahey's charge was caught right on the line by Convince, but that was over five furlongs. The son of Piccolo gained his sole success so far over six furlongs at Newbury last year when trained by James Toller, and the return to what is his best trip should help him to open his account for his present connections. Trojan Flight needs things to fall right for him, and although a low draw should be beneficial, if he gets boxed in at the back he will struggle to get through in time. Mr Malarkey is useful on his day but is in and out and has topweight, while Mandarin Spirit was a little unlucky in running at Windsor. They are just a few who should make their presence felt, but Wyatt Earp caught the eye last time and can go one better today.
