In depth

Verdict

Pillars Of Wisdom ran well in a handicap last time and holds strong claims back in maiden company, however Meggido gets the vote here following an excellent effort at Beverley, Dover Street looks the pick of the remainder. Marcus Tregoning's colt finished just a length behind the winner Ashkal Way in that strong looking event and there is every chance this step up in trip will bring out more improvement. Pillars Of Wisdom was just five lengths behind the winner Active Asset in that Goodwood contest and would have got a lot closer but for being hampered at a vital stage. With the stable in such good form he has to be respected. Meanwhile Dover Street wasn't beaten far in a Nottingham handicap last time, finishing well over that mile trip. The extra distance will come in handy today and he should be involved in the finish. All in all a tricky contest, but Meggido can take the honours.
