Mutafanen is up to defying topweight in this competitive handicap, and can beat the likes of Invasion, Ringsider and Gatwick. At first glance, Mutafanen would appear to have it to do giving weight away all round, but a closer inspection of his form reveals that he has run some very good races in defeat against useful opponents. An all-the- way winner at Doncaster in March, Ed Dunlop's charge has finished fourth in his last two starts, at Goodwood and Haydock, and on the latter occasion he responded well to a first-time visor when staying on behind subsequent easy York winner Dunaskin. The Haydock third Shahzan House occupied the same spot on the Knavesmire, so the form looks solid enough, and with ground conditions in his favour, Mutafanen can improve enough to prevail. Ringsider overcame difficulty in running when getting up to score at Goodwood last time and is on a fair mark, while Invasion will try and dominate but has more to do than at Folkestone. Mick Channon's team is coming back to form and Gatwick, who was in great heart earlier in the season, has the class to take a hand. However, Mutafanen is the form pick.
