In depth

Verdict

Another race to take plenty of notes on as this looks sure to produce at least a couple of individuals that can pick up a similar event somewhere in the north. The ex-David Loder-trained Hayhaat is one that should find this sort of contest is well within her compass and she is one to consider, but the vote goes to Forever Phoenix with Penny Cross expected to give her the most to do. The selection fared well when she was given a light introduction at Bath last month and should be a lot wiser as what is required of her this time around. She will get further in time and is sure to make her mark in handicaps in time. Penny Cross is a big danger after going close in her three outings this season and as a half-sister to priors Lodge, she should appreciate the step up in trip. However, she does not have the best of the draw and will need to work hard in the early stages to gather in the leaders. Dancing Nugget also has a wide draw to overcome but has the in-form Kevin Darley booked for the ride. She too should have benefited from her reappearance run and is one to consider if supported.
