In depth

Verdict

The vote here goes to Redwood Star ahead of Hard To Catch, Seven No Trumps and White Bear. Not only does the selection hold solid enough claims on official ratings, but he comes here in good heart and, furthermore, is also a course and distance winner. This all adds up to him holding good claims in this contest. There is no doubt that Hard To Catch, who has run well here in the past, is competitively weighted based on the best of his form of the last 12 months and he rates a solid mention, while the same can be said of Seven No Trumps, who ran very well on his debut for Milton Bradley when second at Leicester last time, although he is better when there is some cut in the going. White Bear was third in a similar event at Leicester in July on good to soft, and this maiden often gets amongst the money, while Extremely Rare comes into this race in good heart although, on ratings, she seems to have four or five pounds to find to feature. That last comment applies also to Madrasee, but the same cannot be said of Redwood Star, who gets the vote.
