    In depth

    Verdict

GIRLING made a very satisfactory debut at Salisbury in October and started odds-on when returning at Chepstow last month but couldn't quite get to Snan. Today's longer trip is in her favour and she should go one better. Mahfooz looked in need of the experience at Doncaster and didn't quite last out over 1m4f on Tapeta at Wolverhampton but today's quicker ground and shorter trip look ideal. Celestra was only beaten a nose at Lingfield in February but didn't make the expected progress on a return visit last month. Rue Balzac, a 120,000gns yearling, makes a belated racecourse debut and the market should be watched for clues.
