Verdict

A poor turn out for the prize money on offer and this looks another good opportunity for the remarkable Skippers Cleuch. Lennie Lungo's charge has won all but one of his ten previous starts and will have no difficulty in handling testing conditions so, with further improvement to come from this highly progressive type, the son of Be My Native looks the one to beat. A Piece Of Cake stepped up on recent efforts when a creditable runner-up over course and distance last time. Mary Reveley's gelding relishes these conditions and looks the main danger ahead of Red Striker who is fairly treated but has been struggling to recapture the form of last season's Haydock success.
