In depth

Verdict

This isn't as competitive as it could be for the prize money on offer and looks a good opportunity for Curly Spencer to complete a hat-trick. The son of Yashgan comes here in top form having scored comfortable victories over this trip at Carlisle and Newcastle and still looks fairly treated on his old from despite a subsequent 7lb rise. Scotmail Lad goes well in the prevailing conditions and is on a winning mark but ran lifelessly last time and now has something to prove. Rising Generation returns to the larger obstacles after performing moderately over timber of late and looks high enough at the weights so A Piece Of Cake looks the main threat. Mary Reveley's charge was in the process of running a big race on his seasonal return in a valuable event at Wetherby on Boxing Day when losing his jockey two out and has the class to carry his welter burden.
