Verdict

It usually pays to stick with the best riders in these events and, as such, Serena Brotherton and Taranaki can go close to repeating last year's win in this contest. Only two pounds higher than for that win, he is fairly consistent and should go well. Last year's runner-up, Labrett, is now worse off at the weights but on recent form holds the upper hand. Last year's fourth, Cryfield, is another that comes into the reckoning. The lightly-raced Vindication, Sir Michael Stoute's Machinist, Fruit Of Glory, Mobo-Baco and Persian Pearl are others to consider in a competitive event, but Taranaki could be up to landing another win in this prestigious contest.
