In depth

Verdict

A very good opener can go to Fat Boy, with best of the rest suggested as Thunder Bay and Kersaint. With five winners in the line-up, this has the look of a decent race. Fat Boy created a favourable impression when scoring at Kempton, while Kersaint beat a well-regarded Mick Channon runner on his debut. Mount Pleasure also won on his debut although, if you take form literally with the runner-up that day, Kersaint holds him, while Sauz d'Oulx showed plenty of speed when winning at Windsor last time, although others are preferred by us. Thunder Bay has now won two from three, with the only horse to have beaten him being the Brocklesby winner Mister Hardy, so the form is strong. Major Eazy holds good entries and showed debut promise, while it has to be of some interest that Mark Johnston gives Battlecruiser his debut in such a warm race, and Littlemisssunshine showed promise when fourth on her debut at Newmarket at the Craven meeting. Once again, though, we will give the vote to Fat Boy.
