Verdict

Lilbourne Lad's form is hard to knock and he should confirm Phoenix Stakes running with Reply, despite being 3lb worse off here. This was won last year by Approve under a penalty so his task is not an impossible one. Caspar Netscher is another tough juvenile who has been holding his own in top-class company and he has the beating of B Fifty Two and Wise Venture on Newbury running. But there's a just a chance a couple of these will be more progressive at this stage of the season. Burwaaz may be better over 5f, while Diamondhead struggled to land his maiden against a field of newcomers at Newmarket last month. On a line through the runner-up, that gives JUSTINEO his measure and a chance is taken on Willie Haggas' easy Newmarket winner who, being out of a Montjeu mare, should relish this holding ground more than most.
