In depth

Verdict

William Tell can get off the mark against Mister Genepi, with the market best watched for the chances of the rest who all look a bit uninspiring. William Tell has been improving with each run and overcame the soft ground to run a fine second in nursery company at Salisbury on his latest start. His stable is enjoying a fine run with its juveniles and the faster surface here should ensure that he makes a bold bid to add to the tally. Mister Genepi has been knocking on the door and it will not be too long before he too opens his account. William Muir's charge has been keeping Group company, having appeared in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and also the Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket. He will probably be sent off as favourite on the strength of those two runs alone, but it is a bit worrying that he is still a maiden, and he will be no value. It is hard to make any valid claims for the rest, the two Mark Johnston inmates included, and William Tell should go close.
