    Verdict

Machiventa has more to do than when winning at Folkestone last week and, with Overdrawn not certain to stay this trip, the vote goes to Mandobi, who is taken to defy top weight. Alex Stewart's son of Mark Of Esteem showed improved form for the step up in trip when winning at Newmarket last month, ridden clear to win by four lengths. A mark of 89 seems fair and, with improvement to come, he looks the one to be on. Mark Johnston's Kirkstone is becoming expensive to follow and does not appear to be particularly well treated for his handicap debut, while Spring Dancer seemed to have his limitations exposed at Ascot last time. Mick Channon's runners in nurseries have to be respected so Waaedah is one to keep an eye on, along with Tim Easterby's lightly raced Ruthie but Mandobi has solid claims and gets the vote on a track that should suit his style of racing.
