In depth

Verdict

A very competitive handicap to finish off the day. Desert Fury has been a victim of his own consistency, but has now dropped to just 1lb higher than his highest winning mark. On ground that he will handle, he has to enter calculations despite top weight. Definite Guest would prefer a faster surface and Marlo's two worst runs have both been on good to soft, so on that basis he can be ruled out. Siouxsie Sioux will appreciate the trip, but the ground is not ideal for her and she looks to be exposed at present. Teofilio loves the trip and would have to come into it based on his win at Brighton on good to soft in June, and though he has been out of form since he is now on his way down the weights and cannot be ruled out. Swynford Welcome is another who won't mind the ground, but she too looks exposed since her last win. Conditions are against Halcyon Magic and so the TEAMtalk vote goes to recent course and distance winner Fig Leaf. The filly made all to win that race on soft ground and should therefore again relish underfoot conditions here. She does have to shoulder a 6lb penalty for that success, but now with everything in her favour here she should be good enough.
