Wanchai Lad has done nothing wrong so far and may complete a hat-trick at the expense of Peak To Creek and Orcadian. The Alan Jarvis inmate made all to beat Philarmonic on his Ripon debut, form that was given a boost when the runner-up went one better at York recently. More was to come as he then hung on grimly to deny Handsome Cross at Redcar, giving the strong impression that he will do better over six furlongs. His trainer has decided the same, and under Kieren Fallon he should take some stopping. Peak To Creek will be a tough rival though, having secured a hat-trick of wins earlier in the season, before being raised in class lately. He will appreciate the drop in grade and can give the selection most to do. Orcadian ran well in the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury and the Jeff Smith-owned juvenile, a half-brother to Rapscallion, is reckoned to need every yard of seven furlongs. It is therefore interesting that he steps back in trip here and his class can offset the move. With Oro Verde also in the line up, this is a decent event and one in which Wanchai Lad can beat better fancied rivals.
