Love Angel has struck form with a vengeance lately, and is sure to have plenty of supporters on his hat trick bid; however, a combination of a six pound penalty and this extra distance could make him vulnerable here, and we'll take him on with the lightly-raced Rock Haven. Walter Swinburn's three-year-old has taken a while to mature, but has shown glimpses of promise so far and this step up in trip should be right up his street. He ran well at Nottingham when third in a big field in June, having not had the clearest of runs, and again didn't see much delight when fourth here last time having stepped up to ten furlongs. He moves up another furlong and a half here, and as his dam won over this trip at three, this should bring out the best in him and we feel he is worth chancing at likely decent odds. Rowan Warning, third over nine furlongs at Redcar last time, has a similar profile to the selection, and does have scope but on breeding this extra trip is not sure to suit Willie Haggas' charge. Velvet Waters has some fair form to her name and was only beaten narrowly at Warwick last time. The third horse has subsequently franked the form so she will be a danger to all here, particularly as she is likely to take Love Angel on for the lead. Kind Emperor beat her by a length and a half over this course and distance earlier in the season, but is now a massive eighteen pounds worse off at the weights and seems to have been very harshly treated by the handicapper. Love Angel would be a worthy favourite, having followed up his easy win in an apprentice handicap at York with a harder fought victory at Bath. However, as we've said there is every reason to suggest he could be vulnerable here, so the value option looks to be Rock Haven.
