    Verdict

Quite a few trainers are double-handed here, including David Elsworth whose Hill Spirit is selected to get the better of stablemate Champions Gallery, with Stellenbosch and Cantabilly other interesting contenders. Hill Spirit has the benefit of having had two outings already, including a debut run here on 10 August when he was an encouraging fifth to Racer Forever, staying on well in the closing stages. This half-brother to the stable's German import High Bray then dead-heated for second with the well-regarded Dawn Quest at Newmarket when stepped up to a mile, so although the drop back in trip is a bit of a worry, he has solid claims. Stablemate Champions Gallery made a lot of the running on his Newbury bow before dropping back through the field, and he will be expected to play a leading role here as well, given his big-race entries this autumn. Stellenbosch shaped quite well at Haydock last time and as a Derby entry will improve over further, while Cantabilly was given a quite introduction at Chepstow and should leave that run well behind. With no less than four trainers saddling more than one runner it is a bit of a guessing game, but we return to Hill Spirit as the answer.
